Why Is My Puff™ Bar Not Hitting?

In this article find out why your Puff Bar might not be hitting and what options you have until your next shipment from Premium Vape arrives.

There are few things in the world more annoying and unpleasant than having a nicotine craving that you can’t satisfy. Puff Bars might be some of the most convenient and satisfying vaping devices on the planet, but that’s little consolation if you’re down to your last device and your Puff Bar isn’t hitting. So, why is your Puff Bar not hitting – and is there anything that you can do about it while you wait for your next shipment of devices to arrive?

In some cases, it may be possible to fix a Puff Bar that has never worked. If you’ve been using your device for a while, though, it’s possible that your Puff Bar isn’t hitting because it’s out of e-liquid, or the battery is dead. In this article, we’re going to help you distinguish between a problem that you can potentially fix and something that’s just a natural sign of the end of the device’s life.

First, though, let’s learn a bit more about what’s actually happening inside the device when you use a Puff Bar.

How Does a Puff Bar Work?

A Puff Bar is a remarkably complex device considering how inexpensive it is. The reason why Puff Bars are so inexpensive is because the vaping industry’s manufacturing processes have been continually refined over the course of many years. Building a disposable vape now entails a high degree of automation, making it possible to produce the devices quickly and with a consistent level of quality.

So, what happens when you puff on a Puff Bar? Air travels through intake holes at the bottom of the device, tripping an airflow sensor along the way. The airflow sensor activates the device’s battery. The battery sends power to the atomizer coil, which heats up and begins to generate vapour. The air pressure from your puff causes the vapour to travel through a small tube leading from the atomizer coil to the mouthpiece – and you’re vaping.

The Puff Bar’s e-liquid supply comes from a cotton plug wrapped around the atomizer coil. As you vape, the e-liquid travels from the outer portion of the plug to the inner portion. The Puff Bar is designed so that the battery’s charge will run out around the same time that you’ve exhausted the e-liquid supply.

As you now understand, a Puff Bar has quite a few parts that must all work together. If any of those parts doesn’t work as it should, your Puff Bar won’t hit.

Puff Bar Not Hitting: Device Has Never Worked

If you have a Puff Bar that isn’t hitting and has never worked, it’s possible that the device’s components are misaligned. In that case, air won’t flow through the Puff Bar as it should. The airflow sensor won’t be triggered when you puff on the device, and you’ll be unable to vape as a result. If that’s what’s wrong with your device, you can fix the problem by correcting the misalignment.

Remove the plastic mouthpiece from the top of the Puff Bar by prying it with your fingernail or a thin tool. Under the mouthpiece, you’ll see a white fabric pad. The pad is there to absorb excess e-liquid and to keep the Puff Bar from spitting vape juice into your mouth. Remove the pad with a pair of tweezers. Under it, you’ll see a rectangular silicone stopper with a hole in the middle.

If you shine a flashlight through the hole, you should be able to see straight through to the Puff Bar’s atomizer coil. If you can’t see through the hole, the stopper is misaligned and is blocking the device’s airflow. You can open the hole with a toothpick. After you’ve done that, replace the Puff Bar’s fabric pad and mouthpiece. Hopefully, you’ll find that the device now works normally.

Puff Bar Not Hitting: Device Stops Working After Some Time

It’s very rare to find a Puff Bar that’s dead on arrival. If you have a Puff Bar that isn’t hitting, it’s much more likely that the device worked normally for a while – and if that’s the case, it’s unlikely that you can do anything because the device’s battery is probably dead. The Puff Bar Plus is rated to provide up to 800 puffs per device, so you can expect each one to provide up to about four days of usage depending on how you vape. Here are a few tips that you may find useful in this case.

  • To ensure that you can use every drop of e-liquid in your Puff Bars, you need to preserve the battery’s charge as long as you can. Take shorter puffs when vaping. Don’t take so many consecutive puffs that the device begins to heat up; excess heat will drain the battery more quickly. Always wait several seconds between puffs. After you’ve taken a few puffs, put the device down for a while.
  • In some cases, a Puff Bar with a dead battery may give you an extra hit or two if you try again later after giving the battery some time to rest.
  • Even if you like Puff Bars more than other vaping devices, it still doesn’t hurt to have a refillable pod system and a bottle of e-liquid available for those times when your last Puff Bar dies unexpectedly. That way, you always have something that you can use in an emergency. You wouldn’t want to feel tempted to go out and buy a pack of cigarettes because your Puff Bar isn’t hitting, and it’s the middle of the night.
